A more intimate setting

Jara Beach Resort asked AquaTelos to design and build a plunge pool for its Lagos beachfront property.

Jara Beach Resort, located near Ibeju-Lekki, already had a conventional swimming pool. The objective was to create a premium guest experience near the beach without undertaking another extended civil-works project.

The solution? An above-ground polypropylene monobloc measuring 3.84 × 1.98 × 1.35 metres internally, with the steps, seating and technical room incorporated. A welded, reinforced PVC liner provided the internal finish.

In-house fabrication

Prefabrication means that the pool does not arrive as loose modules for assembly on site. At our premises in Apapa, the polypropylene panels are cut and thermowelded to form an entirely leak-free vessel.

Controlled workshop conditions give our team uninterrupted access to the shell structure, materials and equipment. Everything is checked progressively against the approved design before transport.

Completing the structure before delivery keeps most of the specialist thermoplastic fabrication in the workshop and avoids constructing another concrete pool shell on site.

Across Lagos and across the sand

The complete structure left our workshop on a HIAB crane truck and was transported by road to Jara Beach Resort.

Upon arrival, the truck's crane lowered the pool within the resort grounds but could not position it at the final beachfront location. The unit was therefore rolled across the sand using polypropylene panels identical to those from which the pool itself was built.

The panels were repeatedly moved from the back to the front to form a temporary track—a method reminiscent of how massive stone blocks were moved in ancient Egypt.

Once in place, only the cladding, site connections and detailing remained.

Commissioned in April 2025

The pool has been in continuous operation since April 2025. At a recent inspection, it was in excellent visible condition.

The polypropylene panels and PVC liner do not corrode under normal pool chlorination, while UV stabilisers protect the exposed materials against the tropical sun.

The plunge pool has become a prominent feature of the resort and one of its most photographed locations.

Plug & Plunge for constrained sites

The practical advantage of this lightweight prefab structure is that it can be installed in locations with limited access or where extensive civil works would be disruptive.

Jara Beach is only one example. The same Plug & Plunge principle can be applied to penthouses, rooftops and courtyards, provided the structural capacity, transport route and positioning method are assessed in advance.

Only foundations and site connections are location-specific. The pool itself can be re-lifted and relocated at any time. That is an important advantage when evaluating total cost of ownership.

Consider a prefab pool

A challenging location does not necessarily rule out a pool.

Send us the approximate dimensions and photographs of the proposed site and access route. AquaTelos will review feasibility, crane access and scope.
